Blur Interview
1. Tell us a little bit about you. What's your social media of choice?
Hi, my name is Jack. I'm a 21 year old who currently resides in the UK. Currently my full time focus is Youtube where I have managed to amass nearly 300,000 subscribers mostly from the game Ark Survival Evolved. Come October I will be a full time uni student as well as balancing Youtube full time as well. My current social media of choice would most likely be Youtube as it is the platform I spend the most time on, but outside of Youtube I like to spend my time browsing through Instagram and tiktok being a mindless zombie.
2. What is your content vertical?
My content vertical is usually a mix between viral trends and a "Blur" take on playing survival games. I also dabble into the 100 Days trend that is floating around on youtube. But in general long form story content and Let's Plays.
3. What prompted you to start creating video content?
Just the standard answer in honesty. I was just a kid on the internet with some friends and his brother and decided to upload whatever and whenever. Ranging from the old call of duties, trying glitches,Fifa videos and much more. It was only around 2017 when I started taking it seriously with Ark and started pursuing something greater!
4. What are your top tips for those who want to start their social media career?
In general it just depends on what you do in my opinion. But some general rules are follow the trends,be yourself as that way people can never say you have changed, stay consistent and always try to do something 1 percent better each time.
5. What campaigns have you been a part of?
I have worked on numerous different mobile game integrations such as; Raid shadow legends, Mech Arena, Hero Wars, TWD and many more.
6. What was your favorite campaign or brand to work with to date?
My favourite campaigns I have been a part of would be the streaming deals I have done with Raid shadow legends and Hero Wars. Mainly due to the fact that I can interact with my viewers more and get them more involved with the sponsorship. Some games that I have streamed viewers have generally enjoyed so it is a win win in some cases.
7. What challenges have you faced with content creation and how have you resolved them?
The biggest challenge I usually face with content creation and still do to this day is quality control. I have reached a certain quality control now I have with my videos. They all have to be a certain way, a certain amount of transitions, keyframing,SFX,VFX and so much more. This "Quality control" has slowed down my rate of content production which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I always feel the need to be uploading more and getting as many videos out to keep the viewers happy but I can't just put something out nowadays that I am not happy with!
8. How's your experience working with HypeFactory?
My Experience with Hypefactory has always been a pleasure. I have worked with many people over my time with them such as Yana, Ainura, Marina, Kate,Julia ,Sofiko, Alena and many more. Throughout working with all of these lovely people, I have done many different campaigns and all of them have been an amazing experience. Yana most of all has shined through whilst working with Hypefactory as she has always been very fast on responses, always tailors campaigns to my specific needs in getting the best possible value from them and making sure they are as smooth as they come. She also always goes out of her way to help with negotiations on certain deals and on revisions on drafts and other things that are needed throughout the process of a sponsorship.
9. Who do you look up to in content creation world?
My main references in the world of science popularization, although they are not content creators as such since they work for documentary production companies, are Brian Cox and Neil deGrasse Tyson. In terms of YouTube as such, my favorite content creators are MrBeast, Jordi Wild and Veritasium.
